ACE

The ACE Centre Advisory Trust, based in Oxford, explores the use of technology in assisting young people with physical and communication difficulties. Their activities range from in-depth individual assessments and Research and Development to specialist training for parents and professionals.

The ESC has pledged £42,000 to the centre’s Game On! project, which is designed to help those with disabilities enjoy the same access to computer games as their able-bodied siblings and friends. The project involves working with young people to trial the games and adapt them for use via mainstream and specialist devices. The Game On! website will provide parents and their children with guidance and information on which computer games and access devices are accessible with their disabilities.

“'I just wanted to drop you a quick response to say a massive thank you to everybody involved with the ESC and in particular all those involved in the ESC Golf Day. It sounded like a fantastic day and the fact that you've kindly donated the proceeds towards Game On is a huge boost to all the therapists, technologists and young people involved in the project. We are now over half way towards our target, and the support of the ESC and Games Industry has been absolutely instrumental in this. The aim of the project as you know is to level the playing field so that even the most disabled of young people can enjoy computer games, and I'd like to reiterate how grateful we are for your advice and support towards reaching this goal. Many thanks once again.” Nick Streeter, Ace Centre Advisory Trust
