Hope For Children

In response to the devastation caused by the Asian tsunami at the end of 2004, the ESC immediately launched its Tsunami Fund in conjunction with Hope For Children, a small UK-based charity that provides direct support to young people in Sri Lanka. A grant of £76,000, together with £27,000 provided by HFC, guarantees food, clothing and medical expenses for all 1085 Sri Lankan children who lost both parents in the disaster.

“The donation from the ESC is a significant contribution towards our work in Sri Lanka and has enabled us to reach thousands of children affected by the Tsunami. We have been able to provide a safe and loving environment for those orphaned by the disaster and at the same time help families that lost children, especially bereaved siblings, through the healing process.” Simon Jackman, Chief Executive, Hope For Children
