Fundraising ideas

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of so many great people and organisations in the games industry we continue to assist many great causes – but we cannot do it without your help…

Being a charity means we need to raise sufficient funds to ensure we can continue with our project work. Whilst we have many regular supporters within the industry, we would like to encourage everyone to do something to raise money, whether as part of a company or through an individual effort.

Here are some ideas you might like to consider…

Sponsored climb of Kilimanjaro
Join the industry team of climbers on this annual charity fundraiser in Africa. Get your friends to join you on your training walks, lay on a slap up meal at the end and get them all to get extra sponsorship.

Sponsored SkyDive
Head for heights? Grab your parachute and jump for the ESC.

Night at the dogs
Combine a staff night out with your fundraising! Most local greyhound tracks have special charity rates, with money-making opportunities including a profit on ticket sales, sponsorship of races, race sweepstakes, raffles, collections etc.

Day Off Raffle
If you have an understanding and kind MD, why not have an office raffle? £5 a go with prizes such as the chance to win an extra day off work!

Quiz Nights
Piggyback existing events or organise your own inter office/department event.

Christmas Cards
Instead of christmas cards, send an email card and donate what you would have spent to the ESC!

49 Club Lottery
Charge 49 people £1 a week and the winner is the one who has the bonus ball number that week. You could offer donated prizes or offer a % of the pot such as £24, thus earning £25 a week for the charity!

Organise a Curry night
Approach a local restaurant and find out which night they are usually quiet. Ask them to provide a special price for a set meal and charge friends and work colleagues a little bit extra. Could work really well if you go to a BYO restaurant where you could include drink in the price you charge.

Sponsored Head Shave
Know a man in need of a haircut? A sponsored head-shave could be just the answer!

Inter department competitions
Lunch time inter department / company competitions such as 5 a side football

Skills Auction
This can go really well in the workplace. Get your colleagues to donate their "skills" from dressmaking to car maintenance!

Sponsored Walks, swims, cycles
All can be good team building and social events as well as raising much needed funds.

Donate your Unwanted or Out of Date Marketing Items
Let us sell your unwanted games related items on eBay.
http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws2/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=escfund

UShopUGive
Buy whatever you want online through one of the many partner stores and a percentage of your spend will automatically be donated to the charity. www.ushopugive.com to register  - DEFUNCT!

Let us know if you have any other ideas. Tell us about your fundraising events and we will post details on this website.

(eBay etc – keep? Link currently dead – any chance of this actually happening? Perhaps get a tasty new item monthly and mention it in the News – just something to keep things rolling?)

Donate for InDin raffle – see brochures
